  7. Owen, Harrison, "Open Space Technology: A User's Guide"
    publ. Berrett-Koehler, 1997, 2 edition, isbn.1-57675-024-8, (read July 2006),
A guide on using "Open Space Technology" for facilitating meetings and conferences, by its originator., commentary: OST enables participants to organise their own agendas, sub-meetings, reports, and action plans, at the conference itself. Hence there is far less preparation needed, and outcomes are more 'natural' and participants more engaged. It relies upon 'passion' and 'responsibility' on the part of participants. The facilitator's responsibility is to 'hold the space open' and provide minimal structuring. The book provides a practical quide to facilitating using OST. There's a lot of wisdom and insight about why conventional meeting organisation and task allocation so often fail. The inspiring thing is that you'd think this can't work, and at the same time you know that it's probably the only way that meetings/conferences really can - so it brings hope and confidence.

  14. Wink. Walter, "The Powers that be"
    publ. Doubleday, 1998, isbn.0-385-48752-5, (read July 2004),
Observations on the origins and present realities of 'domination structures', spurred by Wink's personal experience of violent solutions and their consequences. Excellent review of how effective nonviolent approaches are - definitely more than you would think. Uncompromising spirituality in his approach. Shows how the insurgent origins of christianity are entirely at odds with their re-interpretations when they were incorporated into the state. Cited by Rosenberg for the origin of 'domination structures', their artificial nature, and the dating of 5-8 thousand years. The text also uses 'nonviolent' in a way entirely consistent NVC, and certainly increases my respect for the choice of that name.
